Freelance teaching-artist: In Tucson, I have spent the past 15 years working freelance in TUSD schools, local clinics, hospitals and an unusual ‘retirement community’ called The Academy Village. Prior to stretching out as a freelancer, I spent 4 years at the Tucson Museum of Art wearing several different hats including Director of Education. My work in this wide range of communities is most often related to community collaborations like mosaic murals. I was selected as a “Roster Artist” for both the Tucson Pima Arts Council and the Arizona Commission on the Arts through a rigorous application process.
Cooperative Gallery Member: Raices Taller 222 Art Gallery & Workshop 2007- present. This group is the only remaining co-op gallery in Tucson from ‘the old days’ when there were several such artist co-ops. Raices is also Tucson’s only gallery devoted to showcasing the work of both Latino and Native American artists along with ’emerging’ local artists of all persuasions.
