Troy Martin – Bass and Vocals
Troy grew up in the small town of Sierra Vista, Arizona, which had few bassists, so he was always musically in demand. He moved to Tucson immediately after high school and earned a bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television at the University of Arizona.
His curiosity about bass guitar was piqued after hearing the song Rain by the Beatles, especially Paul McCartney’s fluid bass lines. At age fourteen, he picked up and learned to play his first bass. His bass heroes include Sir Paul, The Ox, Dee Murray, Peter Cetera, Chris Squire, Mike Rutherford, John Wetton and Tony Levin.
Troy has been active off and on in Tucson music. In the ’80’s, he played with short-lived bands Ariel, The Distractions, Tango 21 and Milagro. He has been a broadcaster, actor, graphic designer, photographer and choir director. Most recently, he was bassist/vocalist for Episodes and bassist for Eyes Wide Open, a band fronted by 2006 American Idol alum, Crystal Stark.
Troy provided backup vocals on Greg’s forthcoming Eyes of the Bicycle Horse album.
